Machines > Yeast Packaging

Yeast packaging is a process which is divided in several stages, a graphical overview is shown on the picture on the right:

Water is subtracted from liquid yeast with a rotating vacuum filter. An extruder then collects the dehydrated yeast and extrudes it into its final product form. This may be a solid block form, but also the extrusion of noodles is possible.

If yeast is extruded into a solid form, it is called fresh yeast. This solid yeast form is cut into a preset length, based on product weight, and finally the product is wrapped around in a single or double layer foil or wax paper.

Noodles are used as an intermediate product to be transformed into homogeneous granulated yeast in the final production fase.
To create noodles with our extruder, finely-meshed mouth plates are mounted on the extruder output.

Rotary Vacuum Filter

Our rotary vaccuum filters are designed for a hygienic continuous yeast filtration process.

The liquid yeast is applied onto the filter surface, which has been prepared with a thin layer of starch. Due to the vacuum that is active on the filter surface, the water is subtracted from the liquid yeast. With a scraper knife the dehydrated fresh yeast is cut off the filter surface. These steps are all realized in one filter rotation.

Main specifications:

  • Hygienic stainless steel tubular design
  • Stadard surface, 8m², 10m²,12m²,16m²,18m² or 20m² (other sizes on request)
  • All drive components for knife and trough are integrated in machine frame
  • Complete automatic working with separate control panel with touch-screen
  • Capacity, 2000-5000 kg/hour*

* capacity is primary related to surface value.

Extruder Mixer

This Extruder Mixer is developed to add and mix additives (emulsifier), which are necessary for the dehydrated yeast in the following stages of the production process. Using the mixer extruder in the conventional production process improves the result of mixing additives to the yeast.

The mixer part is the main component of this machine. The length of the mixer part, length of the screw and the frame are custom made to the particular situation in your factory.

Main specifications:

  • Hygienic stainless steel design
  • Designed for 32-34% Dry Matter substance
  • Capacity, up to ± 4000kg/hour
  • Mixer opens and closes automatically, pneumatically locked
  • Exchangable extrusion plates
Extruder for blocks or noodles

The yeast coming from the Rotating Vacuum Filter is being extruded for achieving it's next shape. On the product outfeed side there is an exchangable extrusion mouth piece. This mouth piece creates the final shape of the product, for example: small noodles for dry yeast production or solid rectangular for fresh yeast packaging.

Main specifications:

  • Hygienic stainless steel tubular design
  • Capacity, up to 7000kg/hour
  • Easy to clean by turnover trough
  • Independent adjustable mixer unit
  • Possibility to mix additives
Cutter

Before the fresh yeast is being packed, the rectangular strain from the extruder is cut into blocks. The length of the blocks, with a corresponding weight, is measured very accurate.

Main specifications:

  • Hygienic stainless steel design
  • Capacity, up to 70 blocks per minute
  • Very accurate
  • No damage of yeast blocks during transport-cutting process
  • Pneumatic or servo driven

Wrapper-BPWR

Most important issue by yeast wrapping is to handle the fresh yeast blocks with care during the packaging process. Variables like humity of the product and environment, foil specifications and wrapping requirements are significant factors. Therefore, Bouwpaco has developed the wrapper BPWR dedicated to fresh yeast packaging.

Main specifications:

  • Hygienic stainless steel design
  • Servo driven, low maintenance
  • Carefull handling of the yeast blocks
  • Available for block sizes of 500, 1000, 2500 and 5000 grams
  • Capacity up to 80 blocks per minute, depending on block size
  • Single or double wrap with (wax) paper, foil or cellophane

Vacuum Unit - BPVU

The Vacuum Unit is an innovative design by Bouwpaco. The Vacuum Unit is connected to the Rotary Vacuum Filter to achieve the required vacuum. Air and water are seperated, which gives you many advanages compared whit the conventional systems. The reduction of energy consumption gives a very fast Return on Investment.

Main advantages:

  • No foam in your wastewater
  • Saves up to 40% on energy compared to convetional systems
  • Possibility to CIP the complete Rotary Vacuum Filter installation
  • Minimum of noise
  • Recuperation of service water
